CUSTOMER WERs - DOCUMENTATION

It is a requirement within the fenestration industry (and many other industries) to continually assess products, existing and newly launched items, and provide a full range of performance data, specification itinery, accreditation listing and different types of certification relating to those prodcuts. In many cases this information is what customers may base their choice or selection when placing an order to improve or maintain their property.

Although it is difficult to provide a 'workshop manual' U70 Ltd have tried to encompass all of these factors within certain areas of this website, however it has been part of continual progress of the Fenestartion industry to ensure that clear identification on all frames is provided so as the end user can clarify that the products installed are manufactured to, and within, the necessary standards and reflect what was placed on order with the installation company.

Although there is no set blueprint for fabricators to carry out this as different 'testing houses' have their own individual concepts / ideas to implement this practice but most established companies work within certain approved guidelines and will display this information in the form of a label within the rebate area of the outer frame section in most instances (please see photograph below).

U70 Ltd has formulated a system of providing a comprehensive table within the 'U Value' section of this website where most of the products either manufactured or within a third party supply chain are clearly shown with all the necessary data collated so as to review in one instance, which is then coupled with an indexed report for each specification (details only released upon specific requests) of that particular glazed product. The system has been reviewed and approved by BSI and has a Kitemark accreditation in respect of the energy rating index or WER.

In some instances it is not always practical to be able to adhere the indentification label inside the rebate area and this may have to displayed else where until the rebate area is accesable.

U70 – IDENTIFICATION LABELS

U70 Ltd has introduced two types of frame labelling; one is for glazed items the other for unglazed. This identification system covers all types of products produced directly by U70 Ltd and any Third Party Products that are supplied under the U70 branding. The overall scheme is to clearly display that U70 manufactured products are fabricated within BSI codes of practice under an ISO 9001 FPC (this is currently third part assessed by Trada - with supporting documentation) and in the case where U70 glass is supplied the complete product meets and complies with a BSI WER Kite mark license.

NOTE: U70 Ltd are currently in the process of updating the current FPC to the requirements of 2015 and intend to run these with a kite mark system monitored by BSI.

The labels shown in images 1, 2 & 3 below carry identification as to the practise policy that U70 Ltd carry out their fabrication within, namely ISO 9001 FPC, and that all WINDOW frames carry the BSI PAS 024 enhanced security certification as a 'standard' specification. The DOORS can be “optionally” specified and supplied to include this certification along with BSI PAS 023 (weather performance testing). As described above in both cases where the frames are being manufactured along with U70 glass units a BSI KM653421 Energy Rating License Kite mark will be present on the label. The C.E. Declaration Of Conformity U707611 Number will also be present.

If in the case that the installer/installation company op to supply their own glazing units it should be noted that have the responsibly to supply their own personal WER certification. The frame labels (Figs 4,5 & 6) will clearly display that the 'frame' is UNGLAZED but because it has been manufactured as a U70 product it will still visibly display the unique QMS (Quality Marked System) Logo which is to indicate that the frame has been inspected and checked within the factory QC department and yearly date stamped. It will also display the C.E. Declaration Of Conformity U707611 Number.

If the “project” and overall specification is to meet the Secured By Design (SBD) Scheme then a separate additional label will be introduced, see Figs 7, 8 & 9 below. With this type of certification the entire product (frame & glass) has to be supplied via U70 as they are the holders of the accreditation – it should be noted that actual glazing specifications can vary due to changes made in 2014, in some cases permissible allowances may apply, please check with SBD Officer locally or with the Architect as it is not the responsibility of the frame manufacturer to source the specification, but the installer.

CUSTOMER ‘WER’ DOCUMENT

When frames have been manufactured and supplied with glass units by U70 (or any third product that has been sourced but supplied with U70 glass units) the details of all of the “Energy Ratings” relating to those products will be disclosed on a document that is produced at the same time of the invoice for the installation company/installer. Obviously the products are delivered onto the U70 trade customer but when they have completed the install and they produce their invoice to the end user at the time of final payment this U70 WER Document should be part of that paperwork to validate the requirements laid down by the Fenestration industry and their assessment bodies i.e. FENSA. This document is an abridged version of the U70 WER & `U` Value Table found in this section of the website.

Please note that if the U70 products manufactured for the trade customer were UNGLAZED then it is the responsibility of the installation company/installer to provide the certification to comply with the WER evidence – U70 will still produce (as described above) a document at the stage of invoicing prior to delivery time, but this will simply state the point outlined in this paragraph – please see the example documents below...
